Weekly Recap 11/30-12/1

Last week I only worked two days, but they were two crazy days! I feel like when the month switches it is always crazy because there is so much to do. I have to print out our monthly calendar/lunch menu for their folders, change the calendar, and change our calendar opening for the computer. We also have to change dramatic play and sensory. Oh and nametags! Like I said, there's so much to do and I'm sure I'm missing other things lol. I made the kids these little velcro games which I was always so against file folder games LOL, but they did love these. I put them on my TPT.  Alex made the tree farm with them on Wednesday. She used the teen number set because our kids are pretty good with 1-10 and we will be moving into teen numbers in a couple of chapters so it is a good intro! Nick and I went to the Cavs game. My dad has season tickets, but he coaches basketball so he asked if we would want to go. We hit up the casino buffet (we love buffets haha) and then headed over to th

Weekly Recap

Happy Valentine's Day! I used to feel like I needed something to do on Valentine's day, but now that I'm old and wise (lol) I don't care and I just want to make it fun for my kids. As you can see, I thought making slime would be fun... The kids were so excited and hype, but my desk was a disaster and it didn't go as planned lol. Last year I hired someone to come in and face paint, but obviously with Covid we couldn't do that this year. I mainly did the slime because they have been keeping their bookshelves clean and tidy without being asked and I wanted to let them know I appreciate that.  On Valentine's day we also watched a Number Jacks movie (their favorite- it also was only like 40 minutes which I like because it isn't extremely long) and really didn't do anything else that was party related because we had a intruder drill which took up a chunk of time and I told them we HAD to do math stations. However, I think the movie and slime was fine with

Teaching Recap Jan 25

It was a short week! We had Friday off for PD and a teacher work day. This is my 'focus' board. We don't really call it anything, but the kids use it all the time to reference what we are doing- which was the whole point! My cooperating teacher had something similar when I student taught. This area has evolved over my years of teaching, but I think I finally have it down.  In writing we are working on having our writing make sense when we read it. We also are going to start incorporating math into writing. I kind of felt bad when they did the pre-test because they wanted to do it correctly, but were a little confused lol. Poor babes. One person wrote "I like" because we have been doing opinion writing for the last five months haha. We are also going to start informational writing, which is the greatest of all time. We read Nerdy Birdy, which is one of my favorites. We mainly focused on verbs because when they are writing they have a hard time with 'ing'. N

Teaching Recap Jan 19-22

It was a really long, but fun week. Even though we had Monday off it felt like it still was so long. I don't personally like having Mondays off. I love Mondays. I feel like they are a fresh start to the week. Plus I teach dance on Tuesdays so I don't love having the first day of the work week be a 12+ hour day lol. My kids were cracking me up all week though and I am loving my time with them.  We are on letter Uu, working on addition, reviewing 2nd quarter sight words, opinion writing, and Martin Luther King JR.. In math we are still working on addition. I feel like chapter 5 of go math is so long. I stuck with using the station we used last week for their "game", which was the hot chocolate orders . My math stations are teacher, computer, rainbow trays (game), and dramatic play. We learned about Martin Luther King JR. Which is my favorite to teach. I always read the book A Picture Book of Martin Luther King. It is in language that little kids understand, but does n
