Weekly Recap 11/30-12/1

Last week I only worked two days, but they were two crazy days! I feel like when the month switches it is always crazy because there is so much to do. I have to print out our monthly calendar/lunch menu for their folders, change the calendar, and change our calendar opening for the computer. We also have to change dramatic play and sensory. Oh and nametags! Like I said, there's so much to do and I'm sure I'm missing other things lol.

I made the kids these little velcro games which I was always so against file folder games LOL, but they did love these. I put them on my TPT.

Alex made the tree farm with them on Wednesday. She used the teen number set because our kids are pretty good with 1-10 and we will be moving into teen numbers in a couple of chapters so it is a good intro!

Nick and I went to the Cavs game. My dad has season tickets, but he coaches basketball so he asked if we would want to go. We hit up the casino buffet (we love buffets haha) and then headed over to the game.

On Friday I got to work taking pictures of the entire Kindergarten for our little parent gift tradition. One of our moms sent in all this fun stuff for December so the kids colored while I took the pics. They were having a blast.

I asked them to take a pic of me on the purple (I make a class christmas card), which turned into them getting into the picture and also me having to hold a picture that was made by someone else lol.

Also we had a delivery from the North Pole - inside were elf hats!!! Then we made these cutie reindeer. :)

I did a terrible job hanging these up lol!!

Also switched our morning work. I went with a half sheet. I always did a full sheet, but I felt like it was a waste of paper. I know there will be haters, but don't worry they still play in the morning lol. I like them to have some responsibility and practice.

Then on the weekend I had friends over for a little christmas craft party. This is my job share partner!!

My nephew also started a new sport on Sunday! Alright, that is all, talk later!

End of the Year Gifts/Prep

I was so sad to see the end of the year come. I feel like I needed more time with them! I did my normal bag of stuff: memory book, year of crafts, award, and a key chain! These are the bags I use. You can get them on Amazon, but make sure you get the size that is at least 9x12. I've made the mistake of getting the smaller ones before lol. This is the memory book I use. I've changed it over the years, but I just simplified it down. You can edit it in Canva, google slides, or PP! You could also use this, but it's more for one student. I used it as a moving away book, but if you started this early, you could make a book for each student. I did the key chains again.  I do not suggest doing a whole class picture because it's so small. The selfie works so much better! Click here for the tag and click here for the key chain photo frames . Every year I hold onto the crafts. I usually just stack them and then we spend some time at the end of the year passing them out. This year...

Lucky Charms Writing

Friday we made these little cereal boxes. I had it up on our front board and they were so shocked at how much it looked like a real cereal box lol. I printed it out in black and white so they could color it how they want. I try to do a mix of craftivities where they use colored cardstock and then some they can be creative and make it however they want!  I tried to tell them they didn't have to write a whole sentence because a. the pictures are small / they have big handwriting and b. I thought it would be easier lol, but because they rock - a lot of them were writing full blown sentences. Bless them! lol I had them write in pencil first then they were allowed to go over it in sharpie if they wanted to. In our classroom we have a bin of sharpies I keep behind my desk. I labeled them at the beginning of the year and we are still going strong!!! That was probably one of my top ten ideas ever as a Kindergarten teacher. It helps responsibility because no one wants to lose their ca...

Colored Rice

Alright, I want to see what kinds of sensory bins you can make at home! I picked up some rice and beans (beans were a fail LOL) and made an easy sensory bin. You can use rice, sand, rocks, pasta, all sorts of things. I bought some Easter eggs and rice, but you can definitely get more creative! As you can see I just wrote on some eggs. You could do sight words, upper and lower-case letters, math problems, really anything. If you have younger kids you could write the letters of their name or just their name on all of the eggs. The eggs are perfect because they also act as a scoop. Now onto how to make the rice! Ignore the beans LOL. They never made it. Not to mention, this was the ONLY packet of beans. The rice is just plain white rice (the third bag left) and this was literally the only bottle of vinegar, I guess people really need vinegar in these times of crisis, haha. Then I use Wilton food coloring, it is more staining (comes off skin with baking soda easily), but it is br...
