May 3 Tiered Tray and Cart

If you're new here...I LOVE home decor. I found this tray at hobby lobby around Christmas time. I decorate it every month or season depending. For example, I did Christmas (December), Winter (January), Valentine's Day (Feb- and also target has so many cute and cheap things to stick in the tray so it was easy), and then I skipped straight to carrots for March/April (and May...LOL). Hey, were in quarantine so I enjoyed that carrot decor as long as I could (click here to see it).

So anyways...when Hobby Lobby finally opened again I couldn't wait to do my tray and cart. However, I couldn't find anything I LOVED. I saw the ice cream cone plant picture (below) and wanted to work off of that. It ended up turning into a 'strawberry ice cream' theme. I'm not in love with it, but it's growing on me ;). I really wanted to do something with plants, but also spring/summer so I guess it works!

Now for what I put in the tray:
  • little square/circle magnets are hobby lobby, perfect fillers
  • the greenery is hobby lobby and I used it for my carrot tray (you can easily reuse greenery for different trays)
  • flowers- I plucked those off some random dollar store flowers I had in my office
  • pearls- again hobby lobby, but I actually bought these on clearance at Christmas time, I think they are for tree decorating
  • mug- rae dunn, I got it off facebook market place for my valentine's tray and it worked perfectly for my strawberry ice cream tray! (I always stick a mug in my tray for dimension)
  • strawberries- hobby lobby in the artificial fruit/fairy garden area

Here is my bar cart. I got this at Big Lots a couple of years ago. I LOVE it because I hate having a junk drawer. I store miscellaneous stuff in the box with the lid (because I hate clutter LOL). The middle two boxes are for important papers and office supplies.

Now for the decor:
  • ice cream cone "enjoy the little things" picture- hobby lobby (main decor object)
  • pink vase JoAnn fabrics
  • pink mug (from my little student, Cam Cat), I always put a mug on here or two ;)
  • the other mug is rae dunn- TJ Maxx, I stuck a succulent in it that I got from Home Deopt
  • the big gather around sign is from hobby lobby
  • the little plant sign is from JoAnn Fabrics
  • picture frames always stay (my niece and her pup, my grandpas, and Sulley)

End of the Year Gifts/Prep

I was so sad to see the end of the year come. I feel like I needed more time with them! I did my normal bag of stuff: memory book, year of crafts, award, and a key chain! These are the bags I use. You can get them on Amazon, but make sure you get the size that is at least 9x12. I've made the mistake of getting the smaller ones before lol. This is the memory book I use. I've changed it over the years, but I just simplified it down. You can edit it in Canva, google slides, or PP! You could also use this, but it's more for one student. I used it as a moving away book, but if you started this early, you could make a book for each student. I did the key chains again.  I do not suggest doing a whole class picture because it's so small. The selfie works so much better! Click here for the tag and click here for the key chain photo frames . Every year I hold onto the crafts. I usually just stack them and then we spend some time at the end of the year passing them out. This year...

Lucky Charms Writing

Friday we made these little cereal boxes. I had it up on our front board and they were so shocked at how much it looked like a real cereal box lol. I printed it out in black and white so they could color it how they want. I try to do a mix of craftivities where they use colored cardstock and then some they can be creative and make it however they want!  I tried to tell them they didn't have to write a whole sentence because a. the pictures are small / they have big handwriting and b. I thought it would be easier lol, but because they rock - a lot of them were writing full blown sentences. Bless them! lol I had them write in pencil first then they were allowed to go over it in sharpie if they wanted to. In our classroom we have a bin of sharpies I keep behind my desk. I labeled them at the beginning of the year and we are still going strong!!! That was probably one of my top ten ideas ever as a Kindergarten teacher. It helps responsibility because no one wants to lose their ca...

Colored Rice

Alright, I want to see what kinds of sensory bins you can make at home! I picked up some rice and beans (beans were a fail LOL) and made an easy sensory bin. You can use rice, sand, rocks, pasta, all sorts of things. I bought some Easter eggs and rice, but you can definitely get more creative! As you can see I just wrote on some eggs. You could do sight words, upper and lower-case letters, math problems, really anything. If you have younger kids you could write the letters of their name or just their name on all of the eggs. The eggs are perfect because they also act as a scoop. Now onto how to make the rice! Ignore the beans LOL. They never made it. Not to mention, this was the ONLY packet of beans. The rice is just plain white rice (the third bag left) and this was literally the only bottle of vinegar, I guess people really need vinegar in these times of crisis, haha. Then I use Wilton food coloring, it is more staining (comes off skin with baking soda easily), but it is br...
