December Teaching

Hi! Happy December. :) I wanted to share some of the activities I have done with my kids during December. Click here to follow me on Instagram for more ideas!


We have done some of these readers from my December easy reader packet. They have been perfect for our online learning small groups. I haven't been able to do the running record since we have been online, but normally I do it on Fridays as a reading grade. Click here for the easy readers.


We have been still doing our morning work. I have them do it as an independent activity in breakout rooms while I work with a writing small group. Click here for the morning work.

We are doing Gingerbread day Monday. I always dress up as the gingerbread girl and we make the houses. We are still doing it this year online. I always let them make these houses the week we do it or the day we do it. This year I will have them do this and then we will write about what they made in small group. Click here for the build a gingerbread house.


This is another one that I do every year. The option pictured is for counting, but there is one for two addends, three addends, and subtraction. I love it for pairs of ten because they can do some one color and some another color to show the pair of ten. Click her for the tree craftivity.


We did my elf activity online this year. It was fun and they still were able to do it. We did it whole group and then we shared in small group. Click here for the elf activity.



I love putting out these adorable nametags. I made reindeer emoji ones, but I don't have them on my tpt yet. However, these are so cute too! Click here for editable nametags.


This reading packet is perfect from my friend, @primaryscouts. I love all of her craftivities and read aloud lessons. This one was prefect for December. The kids loved the story, the retell, comparing and contrasting Olive and reindeer, as well as getting to write what they were an expert at. Click here for the read aloud lesson.

Christmas Presents with My Husband

This will be my third Christmas with my husband and two years ago we decided on no Christmas gifts. Instead, we (I lol) decided that we should do an ornament exchange.  A few years back I took out my grandma's ornaments with her and saw all the sweet ornaments family had given her, but my favorite were the ones from my grandpa. She even wrote the date and where he got them from...so sweet.  So anyways, I thought it would be cool to start doing that and then we could look back and one day our kids and grandkids could also look back. Reindeer Pictures

My most asked about Christmas gift! Here is the step by step on how to do it. First hang paper somewhere. I use the bulletin board and I only need this amount because they are small lol. I do yellow because when using remove tools sometimes they are wearing green or white because it's christmas themed and then it's a pain. Have the kids stand facing however your back drop photo is. The reindeer is to the left of ours so I have them face that way. I give them options like reach your arm out, look that way, gasp with your hands on your cheeks, etc. Here is the link to the background I purchased on Etsy. Then upload the pictures to your computer and either remove background in PowerPoint or if you have canva pro you can do it there too with the magic eraser tool! Fun Gingerbread Books

My favorite books for gingerbread week! Click on the pictures for links. :) I love The Gingerbread Girl. This one is by far my favorite. It's about a fierce and sassy gingerbread girl. I love this one because I dress up as her for our gingerbread day. I just ordered this book ...LOL First, I'm obsessed with twins, so I needed it, but also how cute. I just watched it on YouTube to see if I liked it or not. The fox is the one who makes the cookies lol. This little book is super cute ! The gingerbread cookie travels through the school, which the kids love because they are familiar with all the spots. If you love the 'how to catch' series, you have to get this one for your collection!
